A documentary photo series capturing the vibrant
heart of Europe’s contemporary ballroom scene
This project began at my very first ballroom event in Moscow (2021), where the LGBTQIA+ community continues to face many challenges, and where queer representation is still rare. After moving to Europe, I continued photographing ballroom events until 2023 across Paris, The Hague, Berlin, and Stockholm. Through this work, I aim to celebrate the beauty and resilience of the community in motion — using black-and-white film to draw a visual bridge between contemporary voguing culture and its 1980s roots in New York.
